A New Synthesis of Glutamic Acid*

چکیده

Glutamic acid has been prepared previously by the racemization (1) of the natural dextro form and by three synthetic methods. The first synthesis, that by Wolff (2) in 1890, is principally of theoretical interest as it involves the preparation of six intermediate substances starting with levulinic acid and the yield of final product is not given. In 1925 Knoop and Oesterlin (3) obtained 1.1 gm. (23 per cent yield) of glutamic acid from (Yketoglutaric acid and alcoholic ammonia with hydrogen and palladium black as reducing agents. In the same year Keimatsu and Sugasawa (4) reported a synthesis with acrolein as starting material. None of these methods appears to be as satisfactory as the method described herewith. The following reactions are involved in the present synthesis of glutamic acid.

Comparison Studies on Complexation of Molybdenum(VI) with Aspartic Acid And Glutamic Acid in Different Dielectric Constants1

Equilibria of the reaction of molybdenum(VI) with L-aspartic acid (Asp) and L- Glutamic acid(Glu) have been studied by spectrophotometric measurements in mixed solvent systems at an ionicstrength of 0.2 mol/dm3 sodium perchlorate, employed (15, 20, 25, 30± 0.1°C) at pH ranges of 3.2to 5.5 with a high ratio of ligand to metal. The stability constants of the complexes and theresulting free energy...

Significant Changes in the Activity of L-Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase of Mouse Hypothalamus After Peripheral Injection of Cholecystokinin-8 and Caerulein

The activity of one of the metabolizing enzymes of - aminobutyric acid, (GABA), was determined in mouse hypothalamus after peripheral injections of cholecystokinin-8 (CCK-8) and caerulein (CLN). The activity of this rate-limiting enzyme, L-glutamic acid decarboxylase, (GAD), did not change thirty minutes after peripheral injections of either CCK-8 or CLN in doses of 50g/kg body weight. Howeve...

One Pot Synthesis of Polyhydroquinolines Catalyzed by Sulfonic Acid Functionalized SBA-15 as a New Nanoporous Acid Catalyst under Solvent Free Conditions

Sulfonic acid functionalized SBA-15 (SBA-Pr-SO3H) as a new nanoporous acid catalyst was used in the one-pot synthesis of polyhydroquinolines derivatives via the Hantzsch four component condensation reaction of aldehydes, b-ketoesters, dimedone and ammonium acetate under solvent free conditions with short reaction time in excellent yields. SBA-P...
